We strongly advise candidates to take at least four full-length CFA practice exams as part of their preparation. While the exact number varies depending on your individual study strategy, taking at least four provides ample opportunity to:

While we’re unable to release questions from prior exams, our CFA charterholders create hundreds of exclusive questions built specifically for our mock exams that are patterned after what you can expect to see on exam day.

The best way to practice CFA exam material is to use mocks strategically alongside your core study materials.

• Establish a baseline: Start with an early exam to gauge your initial standing and use the performance data to target your review sessions.
• Master the core first: Take the majority of your mocks after completing the QBank and reviewing foundational concepts.
• Ramp up your practice: Progressively take more exams until you have completed 4 or more full-length mocks.
• Review thoroughly: Focus heavily on explanation-based learning by carefully reviewing the rationales for both correct and incorrect answers.

You should generally begin taking mock exams within 1 to 2 months of your scheduled test date. A standard timeline looks like this:

• 6 weeks out: Take your first baseline CFA mock test to assess where you stand.
• Midpoint of final prep: Take additional mocks to track your progress and adjust your study focus.
• 2 to 4 weeks out: Save at least one or two mocks to simulate realistic test conditions and timing right before exam day.

UWorld provides up to 5 full-length mock exams (Mocks A–E) per exam level depending on the study package you select. Each mock features unique questions that are exclusive to the exam and not found in the standard QBank and our mocks can be purchased individually if you are pairing them with other study materials.

You should aim for a score of 70% or higher on your CFA mock exams. This target consistently mirrors the historical passing benchmarks for the actual CFA exams, indicating that you have achieved the mastery required for exam day.
